Burghley is south of Stamford. A walk away from the town centre. A name with so much history, so many collections: paintings, pottery, bedrooms of furniture and gardens of sculpture and water features. All collected and displayed most appealingly. Capability Brown has a legacy of trees and we admire the new ones placed exactly asContinue reading “Burghley House”

It is so important to have, friends/family/partner. Companionship. The bluebell woods in October 2025
Here is an interesting encounter between God and Jonah. Jonah is angry/put out/ lost face/ wants to die. The people he preached against are safe and the shelter from the hot sun made from the big leaves of a gourd has died. Jonah feels faint from the heat! God speaking: ‘ You have had pityContinue reading “The bluebell woods in October 2025”

Adding fern leaf yarrow and Gaillardia pulchella
The garden’s bright patches are provided by fern leaf yarrow and Gaillardia pulchella. Both are new this year to the garden. The one with its daisy-like vibrant red, orange yellow petals grows from seed in autumn needing moist conditions but once growing well its need for water is low. The other near this plant isContinue reading “Adding fern leaf yarrow and Gaillardia pulchella”
A sketch, a painting and a photograph
This post looks at these three but in between I will share our hope of Jesus’ return. It is estimated that there are 1,800 specific references in the Bible to Jesus’ return. I will take three and place them after a sketch, painting and photograph of cornflowers that have brought me joy to look at.Continue reading “A sketch, a painting and a photograph”
Choisya ternata and Asteraceae
The plants in the garden are at last getting good rain. It is going to rain all week. I am pleased. Here in Ruth the potter’s greenContinue reading “Choisya ternata and Asteraceae”
The cornflowers in the field
A statement by Paul: ‘ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.’ Hebrews 13:8 ( The whole chapter gives context.) This year 2025, wildflower seeds were scattered in an area around the newly planted oak trees. Amongst them and now most prominent is the beauty and calming effect of cornflower blue. TheContinue reading “The cornflowers in the field”
