Paul speaking in a letter to Timothy
…the foundations of God stand sure, having this seal, the Lord knows them that are his. And, let everyone who names the name of Christ leave sin… ( 2 Timothy 2: 19)
We walked on a path we had done before when water squelched and slipped on grass making mud rise under our boots. Today it was easier. Solid and dry with a quicker pace.
What did we see?
Knitting and carving. Blackberries uneaten left drying on their prickly stems. Lots of them. The wildlife must be full-stomached this year. Mushrooms in the graveyard and a branch on the Yew looking bare.
Here are three photos of some of the paths and the inquisitively observant sheep.

And now the Halloween knitted pumpkins.
Knit, purl, repeat. Just keep knitting. Craft to express and it does impress.

A bright Halloween reminder.

These are all at the village pond.
A bear well carved, for us to look up to.

A delightful way to celebrate a tree that once was there.
Here are a few thoughts on carving:
‘ The rule in carving holds good as to criticism, never cut with a knife what you can cut with a spoon.’
Charles Buxton
Then from Horace:
‘ The foolish are like ripples on water, for whatever they do is quickly effaced; But the righteous are like carvings upon stone, for their smallest act is durable.’
Then the uneaten berries with a shiny brown fungus.

Our beautiful world!
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
I was listening to this and found it interesting. It is unique.
Beautiful photos! And scenery 💜
Thank you Morag.
You are welcome. Autumn is quite dramatic in the UK compared to Cape Town. I haven’t gotten tired of it yet.
Our seasons are more distinct. I appreciate that, too.
What a beautiful walk. Living in Florida, I miss the change of seasons that comes with living at more northern latitudes. Our seasonal changes aren’t nearly so lovely.
Yes, I grew up in what was once Rhodesia, a climate I loved but these seasons here are always new and lovely for me!
Beautiful autumn pictures. I LOVE that book and bear carving!
“Never cut with a knife what you can cut with a spoon.” I want to remember that…
It is one I want to remember too. I hope that at this age I can override the speak before you think! Thank you for being here.
