Looking in the cupboard

…and unpacking something Paul said to the Galations. So how succinctly did he say this using sowing seeds as his summary of something important?

Don’t be deceived God is not mocked: for what a person sows they reap. Those who sow to the flesh reap corruption, those who sow to the Spirit reap life everlasting.

So what is the difference?

Sowing to the Spirit? What is that? In summary, it is ones focus on God and others not self.

One’s values are eternal not driven by temporary desires.

The person relies on the Holy Spirit not human effort alone.

These lead to a life of peace not decay and ruin.

Now the cupboard which has morning shade and hot afternoon sun.

The salvias were the plants we noticed most in Germany. Varied in size and colours, highly drought resistant and they fitted well into different planting schemes. I found two I liked.

salvia, velocity …

and salvia, blue patio.

I have planted both in the cupboard planter with Agastache, blue fortune. This perennial has fuzzy lavender- blue bottle brush spikes and licorice – scented foliage.

The plant grows 90cm high and 75cm across.

It will be good to see if I can establish them, as all three only need occasional deep watering.

These are three new plants in the planter. The others deserve attention also…

The nasturtium grown from seed and a loved calendula still from seed sown during Covid 19. They have been neglected but are recovering.

The gladioli, I mostly picked with the new salvia in front.

The straw flowers grown from seed and blooming well in the sun.

The cupboard still has its shelves, so soil hasn’t moved between them although plants have, mostly through seeding and sending out long stems. Feverfew and burnet have both thrived in the container and spread by growing outside and around the container

Feverfew growing around the hosta in blue bloom is on the right of the photograph. This hosta is one from a post where I found its skeleton leaf. A beautiful find under its bright new growth.

The cupboard was where the gift of double tulips grew. A memorable and happy gardening experience.

And here is something said that I want to do.

Notice where you spend most of your time, money and thoughts. Trace outcomes. Evaluate if those investments are producing anxiety and conflict ( flesh) or peace and love ( spirit ).

I can’t remember who said that but it seems good to be aware of your mind!🤣

The cupboard

spreading feverfew,

the old hosta in bloom with lavender spikes bending over it all.

Quite a crowd!

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

Ps

Here are two cupboard thoughts: one from John Lennon and the other Robert Fulghum.

We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think its going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it. (I have literally put them in the cupboard and am nurturing them🤣🤣🤣)

Leftovers in their less visible form are called memories. Stored in the refrigerator of the mind and the cupboard of the heart.🙂
