A jug of cardoons

Here is one affect of our heat wave amongst many. One tall stem of the cardoon broke off. I didn’t carry water for it, I thought it was drought resistant and that it was growing well in the heat. I was wrong. Sadly I took off the branch and gave the plant two buckets of water which made it lift a little.

This watering with a can/ bucket is turning me into a person I don’t like being. I want to water everything but I have to choose. Here is another example; the pear tree has a schedule but then there is the plum tree with fruit on and it is looking dry as well. Rosemary shouldn’t need it and neither should lavender but give them a little and they look so much better.

The hydrangers in pots have gone and I have been watering the three olive trees in containers.

I will get into a routine, soon I hope, and everything will have something to keep it through the heat.

Back to the cardoon heads which I brought in. They are heavy and so I put stones in the bottom of a white jug to keep it balanced, water was not enough. The contrast of white was good with purple pink.

This monochromatic jug relies on light and shadow to showcase its high-relief of acorns and oak leaves. Its stamp underneath has A. SANTOS PORTUGAL 9002. It has a fine wide flared mouth with a stout body. The seven cardoons were so heavy even with the stones and water that I had to make it more steady so I placed the jug in a similar bowl. This way they were stable.

Here is something from the last book of the Old Testament with God speaking then followed by Him speaking in the last book of the New Testament. Both are heavy/strong/ but need to be held together.

First Malachi speaks:

Behold, the day comes, that will burn as an oven, and all the proud, and all those that do wicked things, shall be stubble: and the day that comes will burn them up, says the LORD OF HOSTS, that will leave neither root nor branch.

Then God speaking again in the last book:

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every person according as their work shall be.

Malachi 4:1-4, Revelations 22:12
