a warm Cotswold country side but first a thought about being wise from Paul…
Let nobody deceive themselves. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this world, let them become fools, that they may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written God takes the wise in their own craftiness.
Paul speaking to the Corinthians AD 31-63.
Then a thought about well loved old books:
A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say.
Italo Calvino
What about a classic walk. This circular walk of 5 to 6 miles takes in three Cotswold villages. The three are: Bourton on the Water, Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter.
Here are three photographs. A taster of an area where the famous golden yellow of the stone buildings was absorbed by the stubble of fields of our late July day 2026.

A grand home, a wooden fence, with the yellow of grass stubble, green trees funneling our view in, and shrub stalks framing our full view.

Well shaped trees frame the entrance in a contrasting green. A well presented church tiles and walls all stone. Strong and weather tested.

Then there is the countryside filled with the sun sculptured shapes and colours of three heat waves.

And yes there was water!

A summer scene and then colour too. Large areas covered with wild morning glory. Delicate pink trumpet-shaped flowers and arrow-shaped leaves. Notorious for wrapping around other plants and spreading aggressively through underground roots.

Along the way there was also a well, visited by many bees star-shaped flower with narrow stalkless leaves. Loosestrife, its large size and brightness captivated those walking past.

And what about the tourists. There were many speaking languages from the East, West, North and South. It was difficult to photograph without taking in a large number.

These three towns/villages were a hive of their own world wide making fame. Beautiful, yellow, and warm today with a gentle breeze.
A different Sabbath walk.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
