I chose the church, the stream and a little walk in the village, the group did the hill, a little level area and another hill. There are many walking paths in this area. The local tea shop has the maps for sale and it is really easy.
Bit by bit let us look. Its really hot, hot ,hot.
Walk into the Anglican church: late Saxon ( 11th century) in parts, Norman expansion ( 12 th century) Early English (13 th century) and the current flowers from a wedding today. Orange and pink. Hot, hot, hot just like outside.

Walk up the aisle and look up above the chancel. It is vibrant. Red and orange and yellow and cream with a little black. It dates from the 1850s the Victorian period.

Then there is something small from more recently. It reads;
‘ In loving memory of George Raymond and George Ansell From wife and mother Doris.’

The theme of red and orange continues on in the brightness of St Paul.

Why is there a sword imbedded in the Bible? The explanation is that Paul wrote much of the New Testament: Romans, Corinthians I and II, Galations, Ephesians, Philippians, I and II Timothy and Colossians. Did I leave any out?
So the book then gets the sword embedded in it for all his work, because Nero had Paul’s head taken off with a sword. According to history and not the Bible this is what happened to Paul in Rome. The cross was for foreigners and he was a Roman so he had the lesser or easier punishment.
Paul seemed to have some premonition that his death was near when he spoke to Timothy like this:
“I am already being poured out like a drink offering and the time for my departure ( death) is near”
Paul also writes in Philippians 2:17
” But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.”
Nero soon after this lost his power after much deception as to who really set fire to Rome.
From the flowers to the roof and a painting, all orange, pink and red and then very hot outside. A July 2026 afternoon.

The road I left to spend time in the village. A good choice.

A kissing gate a little bent, and be careful there is a rough edge that tares the skin.

The water is cool and a little family with a boy and a girl play in it. The youngsters are determined to build a little dam of stones retaining a little depth of coolness.

There is a haze of heat and then deep shade from a mighty tree with a flint cottage behind. The picnic of the family lying on a blanket on the ground.

There stands the church in mid summer grasses part of Hambleden Valley Group of Churches. A place to appreciate in far more ways than I have in orange, pink, red and yellow.
And then a little joke on this hot day, framed and on a wall in the church.

A fine time.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
PS
See what you can see. A garden from the road opposite the church.
