Today my Dad, Percival William Stratford would have been 97 years old and this morning we walked where he used to walk in Popeswood Meadow. Dad walked everyday and after Mum died he experienced part of a British summer with us every year until he was 89 years old. Today, we remember him as we walk in this special place.
This post will have a few photographs taken this morning with a few thoughts as I remember.
We enter from the lower gate Dad with stick in hand, hat on and a little more tired, it is a hot summer the last summer with us.

Ducks and birds: he loved to stop and say listen… that was the wood pecker and where are the sparrows? … those coots were all at the pond today a whole family.

The grasses and wild plants are allowed to grow longer now. He would have been pleased. ‘Like Africa’ he may have said. Our oak trees have fewer acorns this year last year was a mast year. Their leaves are fine in the early morning sun while the cut grass is yellow stubble.

Today we walked where Dad used to walk in the sunshine and then the shade of the old oak trees.
Does God remember us?
‘ I, God will not forget you! See I have engraved you on my hands.’
And what about me will I remember you God?
Choose to ‘ remember the Lord in everything you do, Sandy and He will show you the right way.’
Isaiah 49:16, Proverbs 3:6
This morning was peaceful in the meadow as it always is. To travel is exciting but its lovely to be in this special place.

Creeping thistle, in large amounts this year, beside a dry path cracked by the heat and covered by morning shade from the oak trees. It is going to be very hot today.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
Such a lovely way to remember him. 🌿🌺🦋
Thank you, Morag. 🤗
