The garden has no different flowers to give but it does have herbs.
Green: in bright and pale,
size: in small and large.
Sage and bay in matt and gloss. Mint, sage, thyme and rosemary in small pieces
on this day when hands and noses go red on a walk.
I took and put them in jars that had the promise of tomatoes in the summer
Something to mix with their fine flavours.
Mixed herbs and tomatoes.

Today in this space of ours we remember a world famous person who died:
17 February 2026
And was born 8 October 1941
Jesse Jackson
An American Baptist minister
A civil rights activist
A politician.
Here are two of his favourite portions of the Bible. One from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament.
First Proverbs 31:9
‘ Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy ‘
Then Galations 3 : 27, 28, 29
‘ For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are in Christ, then you are of Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.’
He was a great speaker and here are a few of his quotes:
‘ Your children need your presence more than your presents.’
‘ At the end of the day we must go forward with hope and not backward by fear and division.’
‘ A person who cannot be enticed by money or intimidated by the threat of jail or death has two of the strongest weapons.’

And two more quotes:
‘ I am not a perfect servant. I am a public servant doing my best against the odds. As I develop and serve, be patient. God is not finished with me yet.’
And
‘ Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.’
