The garden is very wet and yesterday Roy and I were really tired. I spent time reading the Bible and listening to what I thought was an interesting sermon taking into account the talk that there may be a third temple in Jerusalem.
I will not write about that instead I will leave that to what I listened to and instead share a scripture I appreciated.
Here is a happening. Jesus was in a part of the temple where Greeks and Gentiles couldn’t be. Philip was given this message by some Greeks:
‘ Sir, we want to see Jesus.’
Philip then went to Andrew with the message and then these two men went to find Jesus.
Jesus then left the restricted area and proceeded to tell them these things during which time God for the third time talked to Jesus in what the crowd said was a loud voice like thunder.
Here is Jesus speaking about His soon to happen crucifiction.
‘ The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. I am telling you, that unless a corn of wheat falls into the ground and dies it will not grow and make many more seeds. Those who love their lives will lose them and those that hate their life in this world will keep it to eternal life. If any person wants to serve me, let them follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be: if any person serve me, my Father will honour them.
Jesus then spoke to God: ‘ What shall I say my soul is troubled? Father save me from this hour: but for this cause I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.’
Then a voice thundered:
‘ I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.’
Jesus answered: ‘ This voice came not because of me, but for your sake. Now is the judgement of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth will draw ALL people to me.’
Jesus was later crucified and since that time to now we the human race have been drawn by His love for us.
Jesus continued speaking: ‘ Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while you have the light, incase darkness comes around you and you don’t know where you are walking. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be children of the light.’
Then came this cry from Jesus:
‘ Those who believe me also believe in God who sent me. And those who see me see Him who sent me. I am come a light in the world; that whoever believes on me will not stay in darkness. And if any person hears my words and does not believe them, I do not judge them; for I have come not to judge the world but to save the world. Those that reject me, and do not receive my words, has one that judges them, the word that I have spoken, the same will judge them in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father/ God who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say. And I know that His commandments are life everlasting.’
This passage with no bits left out or according to Sandy’s understanding is found in
John 12: 20 – 36 (Interview with Certain Greeks)
This time with the Greeks as well as the temple worshippers was soon followed by the last supper.
I then really appreciated this sermon:
Looking to Jesus by Mark Finley.
I hope you find it interesting also.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
