The garlic and the rose

Here are some words about friendship. It is Solomon speaking:

‘ A person that has friends must be friendly.’ Proverbs 18:24

‘ The wounds of a friend are faithful but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.’

Proverbs 27:6

‘ Perfume makes you happy so does good counsel from a friend.’

Proverbs 27:9

Today I looked at the garlic once again and wanted to feel what it was like to paint. So I did. Yesterday, I planted the Katherine rose into its own special container for outside and then thought the garlic and the new rose would make fine companions and so they have.

These are the benefits for the rose from the garlic planted in a circle around its roots:

The sulfur compounds in the garlic repel aphids, snails and beetles.

It also has antifungal properties that prevent diseases such as black spot.

Garlic can even improve soil structure around the rose.

It is a considered perfect relationship/ companionship the garlic and the rose.

My enjoyment of the garlic before I broke it into to cloves and planted it.

The cloves with their small shoots placed in the ground around the newly potted rose.

Some quotes about companionship the first from Buddha the second Bertrand Russel:

‘ With fools, there is no companionship. Rather than to live with people who are selfish, vain, quarrelsome and obstinate, let a person walk alone.’

And

‘ Those who have never known the deep intimacy and the intense companionship of mutual love have missed the best thing that life has to give.

The rose and the garlic, the one needed to be replanted and the other didn’t stay in its pretty bowl.

Have a pleasant weekend,

Sandy 🙂
