Limoniastrum and Broad- leaved lavender with others

Jesus speaking: ‘ The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to make the broken hearted happy, to tell those who are held against their will to be enabled to get free, ( to preach deliverance to the captives) and those who can’t see to see what they are doing wrong and free those who are bruised… this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.’ Luke 4: 18,21.

Jesus is no longer a baby He sits with God in the throne room of heaven. He means what He says.

‘The angels of heaven look upon the distress of God’s family on Earth, and they are prepared to co-operate with people in relieving oppression and suffering.’ EG White

Jesus speaking again: ‘ Ask and it shall be given to you seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.’

Matthew 7:7

Are these two plants the same or different? Identified on an app they are different. Both were giving a grey-green/ silvery blue-green look to the stacks as they did to growing on the arch I photographed in an earlier post. They thrive in sandy and stoney soil in salty environments.

Limoniastrum is a large upright shrub, with an irregular shape and whitish branches, growing up to 2m tall. It produces mauve or purple flowers. It is valued as a salt and draught tolerant ornamental plant.

Broad leafed lavender/ Portuguese lavendar is popular for perfumes and essential oils as the scent is stronger and pungent with more camphor.

They are two very different plants growing on the left cliff in the background. The bright green on the cliffs is often Bermuda buttercup, Oxalis pes-caprae. This is an invasive species with clover- like leaves and yellow flowers. Last year it was in full bloom, at this time, but this year I have seen very few if any flowers in places where there were carpets of them.

Sand dunes with ice plant / hottentot- fig, Carpobrotus edulis. A succulant plant with pink or lemon flowers. One can see it growing almost everywhere but it is being removed by hand as it changes the soil and is a significant threat to the coastal ecosystem.

And now for a tea cup of flowers:

The bright orange of Honey- suckle, rust orange of Bougainvillea, lemon of Oxalis and a yellow flower I do not know. There is also a stalk of Rosmarie but it is lost in the background. These are all blooming in the Algarve this Christmas in sunshine and lots of rain.

‘ If any of you lack wisdom, ask God, who gives it to all people freely. Ask in faith, not wavering because if you become unsure you are like the waves of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.’

James 1: 5,6 ( Sandy’s understanding.)

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
