Here are some words spoken by Moses as a prayer:

‘ Lord, You have been the place where we live in all generations. Before the mountains or even before You formed the Earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting You are God… a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past.’

Psalm 90 : 1,2,.. 4 ( A prayer that continues with great thoughts.)

Today I wanted to look at things in a way to answer my own questions. The first was why do I feel at home in the cottage? The second was why was there so much foam from the breaking waves and lastly where did that massive angular rock fall from?

It rained most of the morning and then again in the late afternoon with a drenching at 3pm while we walked the half an hour back to the cottage. This is the background to my questions and probably why I asked them.

Here are my answers with some photographs for each. The first question was because we stayed inside for most of the morning.

The cottage has curtains, not the usual because there really is no one to see in. It has high ceilings with white walls but there is art work, easy to look at, reflecting what is outside. Then places to sit, with one sofa covered in a welcoming terracotta and blue kiln, and a floor for all shoes, boots and dogs. A really big kitchen to cook in and eat in is above the lounge but open, so the cook can look down and feel part of the happenings in both places.

Here is what you can see:

Easy hardwearing kiln covering a sofa.

A cottage that says: ‘ More is not better. Better is better. You don’t need a bigger house; you need a better floor plan. You don’t need more stuff, you need stuff you really use.’ Alex Steffen

Then after time in the cottage we had a delightful follow the leader down sandy paths of ripples and mini canyons that took water where water goes down to the sea. Then there was the time for the second question. Why so much foam?

The answer was that the foam could be because of natural organic substances from decaying algae etc acting like soap and reducing the water’s surface tension and then with stronger waves trapping more air this is what we saw, today.

Very close to these strong waves were the surfers I must have just missed including them.

Nature, naturally white on gold.

Then that cliff fall…

Looking up at a gap. What left that space?

There is a distinct shape high up directly above this ‘ fall.’ A possible cause for it to tumble was rainwater seeping into cracks and fractures in the rock, building up pressure and weakening the stone and so it fell.

The terracotta and white I have seen before but now on the beach.

A colour palette for a cottage.

The foam, the curtains, the rock the colours of the floor and kiln then touches of blue from the sea. All good to see. I know why I like the cottage.

But

‘Home is any four walls that enclose the right persons.’

I hope you liked the colours from today.

Sandy 🙂
