The garden is here…

Paul speaking: ‘ For the invisible things from God are here to clearly see from the creation of the world, being understood by the things that are made; even His eternal power and Godhead; so that we are without excuse…the language  gets really strong after this. It is all in Romans 1: 20….

A poem for our garden we often leave but love so much.

The garden is here but never the same.
Plants are ever here with roots in clay.
They travel not to France, Italy, Germany etc but grow in this lane.

Cardoon throws out tall stalks of fame.
Its purple heads are so heavy with nectar that from the very heart of the plant they bend.
Large heads that make no great falling claims in this lane.

Lupin one by one sends up spikes higher than a door frame.
Its buds open orderly from base to pointed top a kind of sharing of the space.
They hold high and show no great claim to beauty in this lane.

The apple tree its crown once taken took all the blame for shade.
It now stands with windfalls at its feet and large 'bun' shape apples on its boughs.
They wait and grow and will bring sweetness to this neighbourly lane.

Calendulas yellow from the seed packet came.
And now all deadheaded with seed collected and stored.
They will travel in this form in the garden and the lane.

And now dear loved garden rest and grow.
Move on through time and space.
Yet ever stay in this lane.
For though we are both in maintenanc low.
We will move together till I must leave your season's flow.
