Taste and see that God is good. Blessed is the person who trusts God. Psalm 34 :8
Gap, the city, is at the center of the Alpine Massive. It is at the crossroads of Grenoble in the North, Sisteron in the South, Briançon West, and Rhône Valley in the East. It is relatively isolated geographically.
It was hot. A heat haze hung around the mountains. They say here that this haze is caused by forest fires in Canada but there is also another interesting phenomenon. The ‘bar of Bayard’ is where piles of clouds come across Gap and slowly vanish. It looks like an eraser is working on them. This makes for a city which seems to have a sunny clear atmosphere.
We had lunch in the town. A popular salad on the menu is a rainbow salad. Some use vegetables and fruit together and most have nuts and goat cheese. There is of course a bed of lettuce first. The dressing French. All rather well dined.
The popular streets were the old narrow ones with cool shade. Umbrellas and awnings weren’t enough for this mid June day.
Three photographs from the town called Gap.

Some thoughts with gap:
‘Bridge the gap, then close the gap to make sure there is no gap.’ Sandy P
‘ Sometimes the silences, the gaps, tell us more than anything.’
Peter Ackroyd
‘ Sometimes the biggest gap in one’s life is between what one knows and what one does.’
Bob Proctor
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
Sounds very interesting! Enjoy the mountains xx
Thank you. The mountains and lakes are a good change from the sea.
