The first commandment.
God speaking: ‘ You shall not have any other gods before Me.’
Exodus 20 :2
In this post, we will see inside Les Musée- Château d’ Annecy and the Palais de I’lle as well as sympathetic planting in street scenes, and as we leave the town Jardin de Europe.

Let us walk inside into a large room.
It is always a privilege to see modern and old together. Here, they are in the form of two tapestries. The third is still being made.
Please read the explanations, which help a lot to understand these works. My explanations are basic.

The lake then features in other artwork by Paul Cabaud ( Annecy 1817- 1895). Both he and his wife were photographers, and he was a landscape artist.

Then here is André- Charles Coppier, born in Annecy 1867 and died in Talloires 1948. Look at the water and the sad face of the woman.

Let us go outside for a moment and look at the water.

Back inside, we see an Englishman’s work. He really isn’t English but the son of a French refuge who was born in Weymouth 1775 and died in Oxford 1863. Delamotte enjoyed the Royal patronage of King George III. On the birth of Delamotte’s son Peter, King George III called to his wife: ‘ Charlotte, Charlotte! Here’s Mr Delamotte, he’s fifteen children and so have we.’ Here is one of his paintings. This one is of Mount Blanc

Press on the paintings to see the fine detail.
I then view the street from one of the turret windows.

Notice the ripples in the old glass.
It’s not the original but old.
For €8 each we see the museum and then Palais de I’lle. Let us look from the prison in Palais de I’lle onto the water.

Back outside the planting in Annecy is Alpine and hardy.

Last of all, Jardins De Europe which were started in 1850 when the town of Annecy bought the meadow and built the town hall. It is a large natural park with 650 trees, including a ginko biloba, a tulip tree, pines, and sequoias. Looking across as we leave, we know how much everyone appreciates this space.

Some thoughts about streets:
‘ Failure is a detour, not a dead end street.’ Zig Ziglar
‘Knowledge is realising that the street is one way; wisdom is looking in both directions anyway.’ Albert Einstein
‘ A fashion that doesn’t reach the streets is not a fashion.’ Coco Chanel.
Thank you for being with us as we travel.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
He painted a beautiful view of Mt Blanc! I love your view through the window. So colourful. Like a painting itself. You visit such lovely places Sandy and see a lot.
He puts so much detail in. I liked it very much. Each day has something special like a garden. There is always something coming or going. Our world is interesting if not always nice.
