Strawflowers and statice picked and dried in the sun!

‘ Wherefore he ( Jesus ) is able to save us completely that come to God , seeing as He ( Jesus ) ever lives to make intercession for us.’

Hebrews 8 : 25

Souvenirs!

All safely home!

Sun wrinkled and tumbled with ( not by) life

So what if the door swung in the wind

The flowers dried,

they all came home

Strong in colour and shrunken

Statice, strawflowers and a Sardine

Oh, on a pottery plate.

Souvenirs?

Some thoughts on the word souvenir.

‘ The souvenir is an incredibly specific story, but people recognise the universal in it. Because that is how stories work.’

Tom Burke

‘Beauty is ever to the lonely mind a shadow fleeting; she is never plain. She is a visitor who leaves behind the gift of grief, the souvenir of pain.’
Christopher Morley.

‘ All relationships change the brain – but most important are the intimate bonds that foster or fail us, altering the delicate circuits that shape memories, emotions and that ultimate souvenir , the self.’

Diane Ackerman is an American poet, essayist, and naturalist known for her books and films. Press on her name to hear her speak.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
