Jesus speaking,’ Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against itself falls.’ Luke 11:17 (Here are some other texts Mark 3: 24- 26, Proverbs 6: 16-19.)

Spotted laurel,
horned holly,
one I haven’t identified, and Budlia/butterfly Bush.
It was about 20 years ago that a friend asked me to do her charity house to house collection. She was well known so each person who opened the door asked about her. Getting near the end, a lady was in her garden digging up iris- tubers and very happy to talk gardening and give some of the tubers away. I took two with leaves and promptly planted them in front of a shrub. They spread to be in front of a few shrubs.
Yesterday I decided to divide them. July to August is the best time to do this. It should be done every 3 to 5 years, but when the tubers are put back, they should be 30cm apart.
Today, I am happy to give some away.š¤£
Looking more closely at the leaves and setting of these shrubs as well as a photograph of the irises in full bloom while we were travelling . I spent time painting.

Here are some quotes about divided:
‘United we stand, divided we fall.’ Aesop
‘The political machine triumphs because it is a united minority acting against a divided majority.’ Will Durant
‘Persuasion is achieved by the speaker’s personal character when the speech is spoken as to make us think them credible. We believe good people more fully and more readily than others: this is true generally whatever the question is, and absolutely true where exact certainty is impossible and opinions are divided.’
Aristotle
Now for a quote about books:
Books are divided into two classes, the books of the hour and the books of all time.
John Ruskin (an English writer, philosopher, art historian, and critic. He lived during the Victorian era 1819-1900.) Here is a relatively new documentary:
Ā JOHN RUSKIN DOCUMENTARY press on this if you would likeĀ to understand how John Ruskin sawĀ the importance of looking at nature.

I am back outside working with the irisis today.
Take care,
