Salad Burnet flowers with others.

Jesus sat watching people. They were putting money in for the church. He saw a widow bring her offering and put in 0.01 pence. He called his disciples to come close. ” See this poor widow she has given more than everyone else. “

Now, there were some impressive givers who gave coins in bag fulls, and the deciples must have said:

” Why?”

Jesus said : ” Many have given from their lots, but she has given all that she has to live on.”

The story is in Mark 12: 41-44

Luke 21: 1-4. ( Jesus has a fine way of thinking says Sandy.)

Salad Burnet

I have worked with the leaves and seed heads of this plant, but I have never noticed its flowers. Today I did!

An unusual crimson flower cluster that rises above the leaves. The evergreen or semievergreen plant can last up to 20 years. These two plants we have are 4 years old.

A small/little cluster of diminutive flowers.

Small or little is often interchangeable, but I wanted to know more.

So this is what I found out:

Small applies more to relative size determined by capacity, value, and  number.

And

Little is more absolute in implication, often carrying the idea of petiteness, pettiness, insignificance, or immaturity.

Conclusion : I think small clusters of diminutive flowers best describe what I was so happy to see. When you see one small cluster of flowers, it is easy to spot others.  The mint is in bloom, as are the Australian daisies. Here, they are together in  a  clear glass forcing vase.

A vase of small flowers.

Some quotes using the word small.

Once a task is just begun, never leave it till it’s done. Be the labour  great or small, do it well or not at all.

Quincy Jones says these were his father’s words, and they meant a lot to him throughout his life.

Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned.

Peter Marshall

While it may seem small, the ripple effects of small things is extraordinary.

Matt Bevin.

Live your life while you have it. Life is a splendid gift. There is nothing small in it. For the greatest things grow by God’s law out of the smallest.  But to live your life you must discipline it.

Florence Nightingale.

I can’t say more than that!

I’m still working with the iris tubers.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
