Butterfly stonecrop/ Hylotelephium spectabile

For the word of God is alive and active. Hebrews 4:12 (A summary of a graphic description).

It looks fine and well established from the front.

This plant has been in several posts. Three years ago, I showed it as a healthy potted stem bought in Cambridge Botanicle Gardens.  It then went on to grow in a bucket where I could protect it from snails, and so three years have passed with it strong enough to be in the flower bed. It has grown well into an architectural sphere of green and then red with flowers, and last winter, the dry flowers gave a focus in the garden. Howe1ver, with all the rain, it has lost its centre, its shape. It is falling apart. I read about it. Poor drainage, a need for more sand has done this.

I am sad!

Falling away from the centre. Looking at the plant from the top.

Here are some thoughts about falling apart from people who write stories:

” Maybe working on the little things as dutifully and honestly as we can is how we stay sane when the world is falling apart.” Haruki Murakami , a Japanese writer.

” There’s some real dark days where you just feel like the story is falling apart in everyone. Just keep moving forward, even when you are bluffing, even when you don’t quite know what is going to happen.” Dan Scanlon, an American Storyboard artist and animator. ( His father died when he was really young. Someone played his father’s voice for him to hear… a seed , a moment , a future…)

Here are two ” Christian thoughts” one with falling apart the other losing:

” A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.”

Charles Spurgeon.

” If you are losing your soul and you know it, then you’re still got a soul left to lose.”

Charles Bukowski .

Time in the garden all in one vase with the newest that needs attention the butterfly stonecrop/ Hylotelephium spectabile.

“Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.” Robert Frost

Sadly seen breaking apart.
Butterfly stonecrop.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

  1. I love your garden updates and happenings Sandy and then the lessons connected Very lovely!

    1. Thank you for looking . It is very much a left garden we are working with. The grass was cut often when wet and still raining. The plants have suffered. Still it is the same in many ways.
