Never emptied and one pond lily growing for thirteen years.

Were there fish from long,long ago?

Yes, there was one in the leaves!

We cleaned the pond or, rather, the lily cleaned it. Its enormous wrapped roots, holding tightly onto years of dirt, came out cleaning all the deep sides perfectly.

Droplets that seeped through around the edging stones nurtured roots, which twisted around each other and  lifted out easily. These very roots cleaned away the mud  round the edge. The lining had proved strong and impenetrable. I was surprised!

I had pondered the pond since we arrived back and expected more resistance, but it cleared itself really. With a little help!

The pond is a place for us, pets and memories.
