Here is a mystery that has been hidden for many generations, says Paul and Timothy. It is this:
Christ in you the hope of glory.
When Jesus comes to dwell in humanity, He receives no pollution. His healing presence changes you.
If you say : ‘ Make me clean.’
He says: ‘ I will! Be thou clean.’
Glory = character?
Colossians 1: 27

The sky grew greyer. The warning was for heavy rain. I photographed the garden’s first summer Cardoon to open against the sky. Then it rained. Some parts here had a month’s rain in an hour. It was heavy , persistent, big drops, and fierce. The Cardoon was beaten down.
I staked it and took off the first bud to open to give the smaller buds a chance and make the plant less top-heavy. Today, I see the leaves are yellowing. I think the stem has cracked below. It has been changing over these five days since the storm.
Here is the heavy 250g head with stem in a vase with a few stalks of lavender.

While draining the pond to clean it, we worked close to the lavender, and it was noticeable that we have very few wasps this year. I then did a little reading, and this is what I found. Firstly, two lavender growing areas here in England: Hitchin Lavender Farm and Norfolk Lavender have noted that they, too, have very few wasps. Secondly, a pest control company with no names given here, usually treats about 60-80 nest at this time has only done 8. Too much rain is what they say.
A scientist says next year may be a bumper year for wasps depending on the weather conditions. I hope so, as it is said that without wasps, the world could be overrun with spiders and insects. Each summer wasps in the UK, capture about 14 million kilograms of insects, including caterpillars, making them important friends of the gardener.
Here are some thoughts about being knocked down/ defeated:
People with a sense of humour tend to be less egocentric and more realistic in their view of the world and more humble in moments of success and less defeated in times of travail.
Bob Newhart
” Getting knocked down in life is a given. Getting up and moving forward is a choice.” Zig Ziglar . He also said: ” The person who dumps garbage into your mind will do you considerably more harm than the person who dumps garbage on your floor, because each load of mind garbage negatively impacts your possibilities and lowers your expectations.”
This was new to me, but I enjoyed listening to Zig Ziglar notice how he changed his height by dropping to one knee to speak. Getting Unstuck / Zig Ziglar.
Our garden is hard work right now, and we have given it our attention this weekend, so I have had less time for posts.
I hope you have a blessed day.
Sandy 🙂

I like this cardoon flower. It reminds me of my basketflower. I will have to look into getting me some seeds. Did you grow yours from seeds? I love Zig Ziglar and had a couple of his books.
Yes, I have grown them from seed and are really easy. They make for an architectural plant . I must grow some seeds this year as I have lost one and this present one is not looking its best. It has probably come up every year for 15 years. They die down here in winter.
Never thought of the value of wasps…
Great quotes as always. I must look up this zig Ziglar guy.
Ah, he is from our childhood- Dad would have liked him- remember that book Dad had ” Positive thinking” he plays with those ideas. A blast from the past with truth.
