Delicate stem, grape hyacinths, and Italian straw.

O Lord, You remain for ever, Your throne from generation to generation.

...For when we were without strength in due time Christ died for us the ungodly…

Lamentations 5:19, Romans 5 : 6
Here in a vase with the plant material the way I saw it in the garden.
Delicate stem, Italian straw, and grape hyacinths.

Delicate, weathered, but not to be ignored, this left over stem from 2023 was behind the grape hyacinths as I was weeding. The lack of clarity of the photograph implies passage of time in my thinking. Here are some thoughts about delicate.

True strength is delicate.

Louise Berliqwsky Nevelson 1899 -1988. She was born in Pollava Governorate but was known as an American sculptor.

The voice of conscience is so delicate that it is easy to stifle it, but it is also so clear that it is impossible to mistake it.

Madame de Stael (1766 – 1817 She was a prominent woman of letters and political theorist, in both Paris and Geneva. )

A new idea is delicate. It can be killed by a sneer or a yawn; it can be stabbed to death by a quip and worried to death by a frown on the right ‘person’s ‘ brow.

Ovid

The very dark blue of the obovoid shaped flowers piled on a stem bold in their attention-grabbing way were in stark contrast to the delicate stem of 2023.

Grape hyacinth grows from a fast spreading bulb. They are here there and nearly everywhere in the garden. The soil must be good where they grow.

Grape hyacinths with almost white teeth.
Playing with the word teeth

By the skin of your teeth, you cut your teeth
till you are long in the tooth.

Then, with your teeth chattering,
you lie through your teeth and fight tooth and nail
for your

Independence!

I want to spend more time in the garden today.

Take care.

Sandy 🙂

One more serious thought.

Truth like a burgeoning of a bulb under the soil, however deeply sown, will make its way to the light.
