Narcissus tazetta: A cluster/inflorence/bunch.

Jesus is talking after many of His followers had decided to leave Him : ” Will you also leave me?” He asks those with Him.

Peter gives this answer: “Lord, who will we go to? You have the words of eternal life.”

The Bible

The sun with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes ( open an inflorescence of flowers) as if it had nothing else to do.

Galileo Galilei ( Sandy’s words in italics. )

Language is a process of free creation; its laws and principles are fixed, but the manner in which the principles of generation are used is free and infinitely varied. Even the interpretation and use of words involves a process of free creation.

A pot of
Narcissus tazetta,
paperwhite,
bunch – flowered Narcissus,
joss flower,
polyanthus Narcissus.
So many names.

This post has travelled to where I haven’t been before. This is the road it took. I remember studying quotes in linguistics  from Chomsky, and with time on my side now, I wondered if I could hear him speak.  I heard his 94 year- old voice in an interview that took place 9 months ago. Two questions interested me. When  asked what question he would like answered he said it was the same question Galileo had not found the answer for. This is the question:

” How are you and I able to do what we are now doing?”

Or

“How is it possible with a finite number of symbols we can let others have inner access to our minds.”

Chomsky’s interview can be found on utube: Piers Morgan vs Noam Chomsky/ The full interview. The questions that were of interest to me were in the middle of the interview. The first, I have given and the second was simple: ” What was the greatest moment of your life?  Chomsky answered: ” The birth of my first child. ” He did then add that what happened in the world should count more than his personal life.

I sometimes find the coincidences or slip roads on to the main thought unexpected but so helpful I hope you do too.

Take care as always.

Sandy🙂
