Mint and Thyme ( 3)

Mint and Thyme in a jam jar on a grey mat.

This is more than what you see. This is a memory of mom. She made 12 grey mats like this while living in Zimbabwe and brought them as a gift when she came to visit. I treasure them now and used them on the tables for ‘ Soup with friends’.

This Saturday was the last Sabbath in November for ‘Soup with Friends’. Some brought the tins others their home made … Look at their colours served or in the pot. Tomato, mushroom, and beetroot.

Soup puts the heart at ease, calms down the violence of hunger, eliminates the tension of the day and awakens and refines the appetite.

Augustus Escoffer 1846 – 1935 He was a French chef, restaurateur, and culinary writer who popularised and updated traditional French cooking methods. If you press on his name, you will hear more about this remarkable person.

Escoffer made the following part of how he worked:

division of work in the kitchen

treated people he worked with with consideration

fresh food every day but made sure leftovers were given away to those who would appreciate them

He looked at things as a whole and in detail.

Soup is a lot like life. It’s all about what you put into it.

I guess you can consider your mind in the same way. Give it positive healthy input and consider what Paul says:

Although you see me as a person with a body: head, arms, and legs. I am what is happening in my mind. This mind requires God to help with my imagination so that anything exalted higher and against the knowledge of God is captured and made obedient to Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ( This is Sandy’s understanding. See what you make of these interesting thoughts as written by Paul.)

May you have a blessed day.

  1. Your mom’s mats look like they were crocheted? My mom made kitchen wash cloths that looked just like yours, a smaller square. I still have some of them too. 🙂 And several containers of crocheted afghans! 😉
