Blood leaf and purple heart

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2 :13
Juba’s Bush / blood leaf
Eye catching
here and then there  in the beds
a bright red upright amongst the greens.
Leaves oval or elongated.
These are all in the front garden with a sympathetic wooden pole fence to keep the zebra, bush buck, impala and dyka out.
As I was writing this a bush buck wondered past going on his way through the wild garden.
So well camouflaged you need to press on the picture to see him in the middle.

There is a leopard. He makes a kill now and then so we don’t walk out into the darkness without a light to see what is there. The last time we were here he had left his smell on trees near the visitors lodge.

Also bringing leaf colour to the garden is Purple Heart a creeping type of plant with long elegant leaves.

Purple Heart/ Tradescantia pallida weaves its way between the green of spider plant leaves.

These two red and purple plants both bring their special characters to the front garden where my brother-in- law loves to work. These past  18 months, since we last saw Dad, the garden has matured and changed in numbers of plants and their size. A wonderful place to spend time in.

The Blyde river as it was this morning.
It is winter now in the Lowveld
but
sunny and warm
(not hot, hot like in summer)
all the time.
A winter sun goes behind the mountains a little earlier
and
then the light follows
the only indication that July is the middle of winter.

I’ve known rivers: I’ve known rivers ancient as the world and older than the flow of human blood in human veins…

Langston Hughes

Here are a few quotes about blood and the heart:

We are linked by blood, and blood is memory without language.

Joyce Carol Oats

Among the things you can give and still keep are your word, a smile, and a grateful heart.

Zig ziglar.

Take care.
