Malmedy in Belgium

Jesus is talking about anyone who chooses Him and this is how He says it: ” sanctify them through the study of God’s Word because it is truth.” We have to make the effort to study with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

John 17:17 (Sandy’s addition)

Malmedy a French speaking city in the Province of Liege , Belgium.

Sad to say Malmedy was the site of several massacres. This is a monument to those who died during the first and second World War. The names of those who lost their lives are listed below under shinny glass.

The town is known for music. There are seven male voice choirs, two song groups, four brass bands, an accordion club and a very active music academy.

Many of the homes are characterful with Malmedy known for its hanging baskets and flower displays.

Opposite the church was this charming group of children looking at a butterfly. Then to continue the theme there were knitted butterflies tied to the trunks of young trees grown in a square.

Each butterfly as unique as the person who knitted it.

We are travelling through and these flowers and butterflies were a cheerful sight.

Near where we parked for the night was this flower growing in the grass. Foxes and cubs. A name given for the open flower (foxes) and closed buds ( the cubs). They are native to Alpine regions of Southern Europe where it is protected in several regions while in certain areas of British Columbia and Canada it is considered invasive. It is preventing other wild flowers from growing well.

Belgium is green and cooler .

It won’t be long . One more country and we will be home

Sandy 🙂

  1. I love the sculpture of the children with the butterfly – but what grandmother’s heart doesn’t melt at the thought or sight of children. The knitted butterflies are quite enchanting too. I’ve never seen foxes and cubs before, but they’re very pretty.

  2. Delightful! What a gorgeous little statue of children and a butterfly🥰.
We have a good deal of Belgian ancestry.
