Poperinge, Dunkirk, Dover and home.

Oh, say a big thank you to the Lord for He is good: because His mercy lasts and lasts continually…

Psalm 118:1 (Sandy’s wording of thankfulness)

Our weather today:

Our last overnight stop in a town known for growing hops. Poperinge. We slept parked legally in a car park and woke to sunshine. Plenty of rain from Dunkirk to Dover and now brilliant sunshine. So this is how it went.

Church spire of Poperinge piercing a blue sky!
This is taken from Bugzy’s back window.
Looking through Bugzy’s front windows.
Hops which take 120 days to mature. Rows and rows!
Poperinge is a hop producing town.
All in warmth and bright sun.
The plant must have a very chilly winter.
Then to Dunkirk… rain and sea!

Bad weather always looks worse through a window.

Tom Lehrer (American singer-songwriter, satirist and mathematician. )
The white cliffs of Dover.
Grey-blue calm sea,
chalk grey cliffs,
pale grey sky.
Oh , and don’t forget the grey green cliff tops.

Such a peaceful grey crossing in such peaceful grey thought.

Here’s another quote this time from John Mayer:

‘Sometimes I wish I was the weather, you’d bring me up in conversation forever. And when it rained, I’d be the talk of the day.’

Home in bright sunshine where parts of the garden have thrived with neglect!

Weather forecast for tonight, dark!

George Carlin (By the way he also said : “Here is all you have to know about men and women: Women are crazy, men are stupid. And the main reason why women are crazy is that men are stupid.”)

    1. We are glad too. You understand well the feeling after a long trip. That church was magical as it woke us up with bells at 7am , I think , and then played a tune with it’s bells at about 8:30am.
