Bari Italy to Igounemitisa Greece

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise. But the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 13 : 20

We left on a wind swept Ionian sea. The ferry was new and very clean but every inch was taken up by transport trucks. The truck drivers often reversing up the boarding ramp. A ‘spectator sport ‘ . They were brilliant.

There were also a number of motor homes and Bugzy was soon connected to electricity. This was our view as we left port. It is usual that during the spring and summer right until 1st November one may sleep in one’s camper. We reached port at about 5:30am Greek time.
Here it is easy to park right by the beach … look at this Acacia / Swamp wattle in full bloom. It can grow from 10ft to 15 ft wide and just as tall. A good wind break. The wind is fresh and strong today. This one has not had time to reach that stage of being able to protect but then have a look at these two mature trees next to Bugzy.
It looks like the palm and Eucalyptus tree were planted in the same hole.
They are an amazing pair.
Equally wide but not equals in height.
To almost within a few yards from the waters’ edge are these purple Mediterranean stock flowers
sometimes called three – horned stock. It is a wild flower not often cultivated but loved by bees, butterflies and birds.

Here are some sayings about boats and the sea that I found interesting.

The boat is safer anchored at the port; but that is not the aim of boats.

Paulo Coelho

If you are a boat that wants to sail in windy weather, you must be more stubborn than the waves.

Mehmet Murat Iladan

The heart of a person (man) is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides and in its depths, it has its pearls too.

Vincent Van Gogh

We hope you continue to share a little more of the “roads we travel” now that we have reached Greece, our destination.

Sandy 🙂
