The flower combination of lemon Roses, Zinnias, Bouncing Bess and Chamomile with one Cosmos encircle the Red Hot Poker. This will be the last bloom of the Red Hot Poker until we see it in the summer of 2022. The surprised but friendly looking Japanese dragon with pattern all around .The five petaled flower side of the jug with carefully painted yellow touches. This is a 1920s Japanese jug all of one hundred years old. I feel priviledged to choose it and own it. It cost £18 a large amount in my second hand mind set. The dealer did show me a small chip on the rim.I guess we are slowly saying good bye to the summer flowers for another year. Let us hope the soil is well drained round the Red Hot Pokers roots and the crown doesn’t rot. I will not leave it to hope but will dig in some extra grit and not cut the leaves until spring.
