First a question from Jesus to Peter:
‘Who do you say I am?’
Peter’s answer was quick and brief: ‘ The Christ of God.’
Then Jesus told Peter His ( the Son of Man’s) future:
‘ I must suffer many things, be rejected, be killed and be raised the third day.’
He also said a bit more but then ended with this:
‘ Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, of them shall the Son of Man be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and that of the holy angels.’
Luke 9: 20,22,26. ( The whole chapter is interesting.)
This post looks at a plant I photographed in the garden and in a vase for a post on 6 September 2022 and now I am doing it again 6 September 2026.
Amaryllis belladonna thrives in drought conditions as they store ample moisture in their fleshy structures. These bulbs have definitely been part of our garden for many years and have over the last four years experienced both extreme wetness and high temperatures. Summer dry spells trigger their natural dormancy and subsequent autumn flowering.
These three photographs celebrate this beautiful plant.
Their central budding with flowers branching out make for a long lasting group providing a source of food for the insects. There isn’t that much available right now so I was pleased to see this bee measuring up with an anther.
The shadows were particularly lovely as I saw the details of the lily in morning sunlight.
The drought loving Amarylius belladonna has come into her own these past four years, as our summers have become warmer. Seeing how well the right plant thrives in heat I planted more lavender and thyme with bone meal and sand. Our garden is changing.
Tomorrow I hope to look at four trees I have taken an interest in over these past 5 years.
