Jesus’s words as He ends a prayer He taught all of us to pray:
I am looking at how the prayer ends. ‘ And lead us not into temptation.’ This part reads differently in the Aramaic language:
” And do not let us enter into temptation, but deliver/rescue us from the evil one (free us from harm, everyday dangers, corrupt influences and destructive human choices.)
Why do we ask You?
‘For Yours is the territory, Yours is the might and majesty, authority and splendour, sovereignity and magnificence.’
And You ask us to say:
‘Our Father.’
James reminds us ‘Let no person when they are tempted say ” I am tempted of God”: for God, cannot be tempted with evil, neither does He tempt anyone. James 1:13
We all need protection and we all can choose to say this. Jesus has given it to us to say.

I am so pleased with how well the Salvia I planted in July has grown. It already has a second group of flower stalks ready to open close to the ones I cut this morning.

The plant has been watered twice a week while we were in Ireland and clearly loves sunshine.
The eucalyptus needed trimming and its coin- shaped silver blue leaves gave the blue of the Salvia a charm in both colour and shape contrast.

A fine contrast with yesterday’s leaf sculptures which I tried to capture using soft pastels.

I enjoyed asking questions as I gave these leaves my full attention: Which part of the leaf belongs to which? Where do they fold? Where do they curve/curl and in which direction. The green is leaving in which direction? Plant material I have handled over many years had my focus and I enjoyed every minute.
Here is what a tennis player once said about focus:
I don’t focus on what I am up against. I focus on my goals and I try to ignore the rest.
Venus Williams
And this one to make you smile:
You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.
Mark Twain
This quote is reminder of a really good poem I read on WP.
Have a good time of day whenever you read this.
Sandy 🙂
PS
This is what I was trying to draw.🤣🤣

Profound devotional “our Father”. Thank you for those thoughts.
Loved the rest as well. Especially the Mark Twain quote “You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.” Profound too!
Thank you, Shelly. Our Father. Always there.
