Yesterday I was sad, today I am glad. It is raining. Will there be enough for the Rowan tree or only for the grass and ground cover plants.
Yesterday I was curious to know why the red berries of the Rowan hadn’t been eaten. Today I know that the birds wait for the first frosts to make them sweet. Today they are experiencing a little rain.
The pond is the best place to see raindrops and here the water is marked by them. Circles of ripples colliding with each other on a dark background of non reflecting deep brown. A beautiful sight. How I hope it continues to rain like it did in Ireland.
The two fruit trees are fine. The pear has got a bucket of water twice a week but the apple wasn’t given any, although it did get rid of a lot of fruit. It is still holding onto some fruit which will be sweeter after the first frosts.

A clusters of apples still there and I think the tree’s roots seem to have gone deeper. There is no wasp nest in the hole.
The hole has fallen in on itself. The wasps didn’t come back. However we did have many insects on the Cardoons.
And here is an agricultural metaphor to explain something about us. It goes like this: a person’s heart, when receptive to God’s words and grace, will produce a fruitful and spiritually mature life that receives God’s blessings.
It is said like this by Paul:
‘ For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes on it, grows plants for those who work on it and these are a blessing from God.’
He then goes on to say: ‘ God is not unrighteous to forget your work of love for His name and others. May you have the full assurance of hope to the end.’
