Neither here nor there.
If time came to say: ” You are on a journey! You are neither here nor there!”
If time came to say: ” I, time, am finished.”
Would I say: ” Who is I?”
My relevance, my contribution, my love…?
But my thoughts would be:
‘ I am on a journey neither here not there. Let me rest a while until Jesus’ face I see. It might be nice to end the journey here and leave this
” neither here nor there.”
If I am neither here nor there to you, I would still want you to know those words spoken to me by a wise person:
” How you live you die!”
If time came to say ” I am no more for you;” How have you lived?”
Conflicted or simply sincere.

I often say to Roy when travelling how much I literally enjoy being neither here nor there. But, when was this expression first used and how do we normally understand it?
It was used in a sermon by John Calvin in 1583 and then Shakespeare made it popular around 1604. Its real meaning is something I have played with as it refers to a specific point or detail as completely irrelvant, immaterial, or unimportant to the main topic being discussed. Enough said.
An explanation from the author. My above thoughts are a response to a poem I read on WP yesterday. Thank you to the blogger who made me think.
We are pleased that on the whole the plants we left had enough water to stay alive. Here is a teacup of parsley.
The cup and saucer say underneath ‘ Made in England bone china’ , it is significant that the leaves on the tree are yellow and the grass on the roof is yellow. There is an awful lot of dry grass and leaves this August.
Early this morning I picked the top stalks of rosemary and lavender. Why? The flowers are not important nor the leaves what is important is to propergate plants and get ready for a warm summer 2027 if we want some green.
Let me wish them well!
It is said they will take a few weeks (3 or 4) to root and make small shoots.
I must say it is nice to have some sun after the rain of Ireland.
