A green vase

Here is a quote from E.G.White who lived around about 1844 and then Micah 8th century BC.

‘ Jesus doesn’t wish for those who have been bought with His blood to become the sport of Satan’s temptations. He doesn’t want us to be overwhelmed and die. He was the one who stopped the lions eating Daniel and walked in the fire with Daniel’s friends. He is just as ready to work in our behalf and subdue every evil. He/ Jesus is standing at the altar of mercy, presenting before God the prayers of those who really want His help.’

‘ Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation.’

Working with the taller flowers from the garden I chose a tall green vase. The heat of red and the cool of white together in the green.

The list of flowers is such: one red gladiolus, one white gladiolus, five white shasta daises with yellow centres, three kniphofia/torch lilies/ devil’s poker plant/tritoma or yellow- red hot pokers, two day lilies and no green foliage but anchored in a green vase.

There is a balance about putting together these colours. I read that it should be 60/30/10. I think my group has 60 white, 30 red and 10 for the transitional element yellow to orange but not red. This balance of working with the warmth of red and the bright airy nature of white.

I went on to look for a poem using the word red hot poker and what I found was a journey in itself. A sad story. A poet by the name of Barry Tebb wrote a poem about his son, Isaiah.

Isaiah was born to Barry Tebb and Williams, he studied at Eton then Balliol College Oxford but then was hospitalised and remains so with chronic paranoid schizophrenia. The poem starts:

‘ Why our son, Why?’

It ends with a heart piercing:

‘ I felt like running away!’

He didn’t run away instead in 2004 he published a poem entitled ‘ Coming to terms with schitzophrenia ‘( in Tranquility street).

Pain of the deepest kind represented in the vase by red hot pokers.

Beautiful always?

Is it a luxury to accept as non negotiable the certainty that a heavenly, painless eternity exists?

Balance

Balance in colour, ideas, belief.

Is balance part of a creative life?

Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.

Have a good day whenever you read this.
