We got lost!

Where were we lost? In Grimmheimat Nordhessen. The scenery is enchanting and here are four photographs taken from Bugzy as we drove with satnav going wild. I have then placed some quotes about getting lost below each photograph.

Getting lost is just another way of saying ” going exploring.”

The skies were clouding although it was still hot 30º. The wheat fields were at different stages of ‘yellowing’.The trees were now all perfectly green and the roads had lost their middle broken white line… it was beautiful.

The world is so huge that people are always getting lost in it. There are too many ideas and things and people, too many directions to go. I was starting to believe that the reason it matters to care passionately about something is that it whittles the world down to a more manageable size. It makes the world seem not huge and empty but full of possibility.

Stories move in circles. They don’t move in straight lines. So it helps if you listen in circles. There are stories inside stories and finding your way through them is as easy and as hard as finding your way home. And part of the finding is the getting lost. And when you are lost you start to look around and listen.

Getting lost took us through picturesque villages of half-timbered buildings as part of the enchanting scenery. Homes still loved and enjoyed after hundreds of years.

We eventually stopped and reset the satnav near a sign post pointing to the town we had intended to go to. This time we arrived.

And here is a continuation of another type of journey that of transforming the mind.

Paul is speaking to the Corinthians and describes a spiritual war of the mind, urging believers to reject anxious or false thoughts, replacing human philosophies and negative speculations with the truth of God. Identify the root, recognise when your thoughts are generating worst- case scenarios, unwarranted insecurities or philosophies that contradict God’s truth. Actively stop the mental spiral by rejecting the lies and choosing to submit your mindset to the peace and wisdom of God.

Here are Paul’s words:

‘For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.’

2Corinthians 10:4,5

Today we travel on.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

    1. It was! We knew we would get where we were going eventually and sun set about 10. Thank you for finding it thought provoking. We met a writer whose passion was intuition. He has made me think about how a Christian would renew their mind. He has an interesting method as well. This is what intuitive thinking seems to need. So interesting!

  1. So glad you found your way eventually. I like the way Paul helped the Corinthians to get wisdom and peace of mind and rejecting the mental spiral of some negative thoughts
