Today is 7th April 2026 and I was born on this day in 1956. This post has a tea cup of spring garden flowers as a celebration of thankfulness to all those who have been part of these past 70 years. Without laughter you can have tears. Without love you may be bitter and hate. Without support you may feel lost. All these I have experienced BUT the good has outweighed the bad. Life is as colourful as these flowers picked from our garden. May you enjoy them too.

The smallest among them are the forget-me-nots, then three small tulips in red with grape hyacinths in blue. Miniature daffidols are bright in lemon with three sun soaked yellow five petaled, marsh marigolds picked from a plant growing in water. The orange to yellow prickly Darwinian shrub flowers support everything in this small container. It is between their small branches that the smooth stems are held. The container having a small amount of water could hold them for a while but I soon removed the prickly supports and placed them in a jug to last for days.

Here is David speaking from Psalm 71 and in my own way I have made it my own for my birthday.
‘ By You, God, I have been held from my mother’s womb… my praise will be continually of You… Now also when I am old and grey Oh God, do not leave me until I have shown Your strength to this generation and Your power to everyone who is to come. For You are my help, Oh Lord God: I have trusted You.’

And yes, to amuse myself and remember more fully this gift from our garden I painted with joy.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂

I like this quote: ” Getting older means paring yourself down to an essential version of yourself.”
