Savill Garden 2026

Yesterday, Roy and I enjoyed time with the Over 60’s club in Savill Garden. It is good to be with those in their mid nineties showing us young ones how much enjoyment there is from time spent in a garden.

Here I will share four photographs taken from yesterday’s experience in this garden, with three quotes and words said by apostle Paul in a letter written in Ephesus, to the Corinthians in AD 57.

A quote from George Santayana:

‘ Beauty as we feel it is something indescribable; what it is or what it means can never be said.’

Paul speaking about His experience of seeing Christ: ‘ He was seen by Cephas, then the twelve, then by 500 and last of all by me, who am the least and really not good enough because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am who I am: and His GRACE which was given as a high- valued privilege was not useless because I worked a lot, yet not I but the grace of God which was with me.’

Corinthians 15:7-10

Then this quote from an Australian poet, Pam Brown:

‘ For every person who has ever lived there has come, at last, a spring they will never see. Glory then in the springs that are yours.’

Paul had this to say before he felt so unworthy of Christ’s grace.

‘ I am telling you first of all what I received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. And that He was buried. And that He rose again on the third day according to the scriptures.’ Corinthians 15: 3,4

And now for a quote by a professional comedy writer, Robert Orben:

“Spring is God’s way of saying,

‘ One more time.’ ”

Paul continues writing his letter:

‘…For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every person in their order: Christ the first fruits, afterward they that are Christ’s at His coming.’

Corinthians 15: 21-23

May you all enjoy this holiday period of Easter, I won’t be in this space but will have a break.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

Ps

A photograph of Egyptian geese their colours almost hidden in the tapestry of the garden and then one of a white magnolia in bloom.

These birds can be seen in paintings from ancient Egypt as early as 14th century BC.

‘ Fun is a good thing, but only when it spoils nothing better.’ From the same person we started with, George Santayana.
