I started with two Bible verses…

and then I went on a journey. Strangely I started with something in Ezekiel who lived and worked in 593 B.C and then had an explanation of a prophecy from Jeremiah 33, I didn’t know about.

Here are the verses, Old Testament first then New Testament about the Holy Spirit.

‘ A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh and I will put my spirit in you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you will keep my judgements, and do them.’ Ezekiel 36: 26,27

Then John writes what Christ says:

‘ I am talking to you while I am here, but the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, who will be sent by the Father, will teach you all things, and help you remember what I have said… don’t let your mind be troubled… I give peace. Real peace.’ John 14: 26…27 My wording.

I then listened to a speaker, Dr. Dwight K Nelson, his topic was The Holy Spirit. He was careful to say that the Holy Spirit needed to be asked for each day. Prayer was a significant part of receiving this part of the Godhead, an invited part of our life. He quoted from a book written by a German businessman who gave up a successful management position in shipping to be a pastor. Helmit Haubeil wrote the book:

Steps- to – personal Revival.

I then listened to the first and third chapters read on youtube. It was first written in German but is now in many languages as it has been well received by Bible based Christians. It is a book I will return to.

It was while looking at general quotes on the Holy Spirit by many different people that I decided to travel with this:

‘Eighteen years ago, the Holy Spirit led me to establish a church in Times Square.’

David Wilkerson 1931-2011. He was the co author of ‘ The cross and the Switch Blade’.

I wanted to know more. Why did he do this? Here are his words.

‘ My heart broke over what I saw. At that time, Times Square was populated mainly by prostitutes and pimps, runaways, drug addicts and hustlers, along with live peep shows and x-rated movie houses. I cried out for God to do something – anything to help the physically destitute and spiritually dead people I saw.

I wept and prayed. ‘ God, you’ve got to raise up a testimony in this hellish place.’ The answer was not what I wanted to hear, ‘ Well you know the city. You’ve been here. You do it!’

He founded Time Square Church.

He avoided catergorizing according to denomination. He set up the church to emphasize:

God’s holiness and righteousness.

God’s love towards humans.

Christian views of Christ.

I then saw that I could hear him speak on this topic:

Looking for the right church in the wrong places.https://share.google/2Z19Kfm8XdNe8lkCL

He uses a prophesy in Jeremiah and sums up by saying:

You will find the right church if you set up a family time of worship in your own home. By doing this the Holy Spirit will help you by impressing upon you the church that is right for you.

The prophetic view of Jeremiah 33 I will leave for you to understand what he says.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
