From Dover to the garden

Here are two expressions of thankfulness one from the New Testament and one from the Old Testament.

Paul speaking: ‘ Always keep praying. Always be thankful no matter what happens, for that is God’s will for you who belong to Jesus Christ.’ 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Then from the Psalms: ‘ Say thank you to the Lord for being so good for always being so loving and kind.’ Psalms 107:1

‘ Happiness cannot be travelled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.’

Denis Waitley 1933 – 2025

Yes, those are the White cliffs of Dover through yesterday’s mists. What helps to keep them white? Erosion is the answer, this is roughly at the rate of 1cm to 2cm a year. They are 98% chalk, fossilized plates of tiny algae, punctuated by layers of black flint. Julius Caesar first noted them in 55BC describing then as a ‘natural fortification that hindered his invasion.’

From the cliffs to our garden. It is not covered in snow but sodden green with more rain falling. Here is a small tea cup a gift from the garden. I have used this container before and shown the details of peacocks placed on its saucer and well formed cup. Today there is a sprig of Rosemary starting to flower, a few sage leaves and a few mint leaves, then a primrose from those found hidden and replanted and now a little soaked in the metal cupboard planter.

It is good to be back with the garden.

Grateful to be home,

Sandy 🙂

Those white cliffs are eroding so fast – it must dangerous to walk on the edge…?
    Beautiful little teacup arrangement 🥰
