Weather

First let us look at two uses of weather; the noun and the verb.

The noun weather has its meaning in earth and sky. It is what the atmosphere is like at a particular time and place as far as cloud cover, sunshine, wind and rain.

The verb weather can refer to something changing in appearance by long exposure to weather. The verb to weather can also mean to endure.

This post has photographs depicting weather here in the Algarve, and with each I have placed some thoughts written by David from Psalm 62. You may like to read it in full.

Sun

Sitting on the beach surrounded by broken shells, I had these thoughts: ‘pick up a piece and once picked up don’t change it, once placed down don’t move it, the picture is complete however you leave it…’

I was doing this when Roy not knowing the ‘game’ said: ‘ I will collect pieces for you.’ He started placing them vertically so I joined in placing some next to his vertically. What we both noticed were the interesting shadows of these small pieces as the sun went lower in the sky.

We left it for an hour or so and when we returned I wondered if it was still there. It was. A day full of sunshine.

‘ Truly my soul waits for God, from Him comes my salvation. He only is my defence ; I shall not be greatly moved.’

Wind

We parked very close to these trees and it is easy to see what the prevailing wind direction is. This is how they are growing. I wanted to use the ‘upside down tree painting experience’ to arrive at their weathered shape and found it rather unusual to do.

‘ Trust not in oppression, and don’t become vain in robbery: if riches increase, don’t set your heart on them. God has spoken ‘power belongs to God.’

Then with a storm in October there was wind and rain with a roaring sea and parts of the cliffs here in the Algarve were damaged.

This Psalm then ends with these words: ‘ O Lord, to you belongs mercy: because you render/ provide a service to every person according to their work.’

Instead of some sayings here is a quote from Paul who was sitting in prison.

‘ We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.’ Romans 8:28

The Algarve is a lovely place to be.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
