The garden’s bright patches are provided by fern leaf yarrow and Gaillardia pulchella. Both are new this year to the garden. The one with its daisy-like vibrant red, orange yellow petals grows from seed in autumn needing moist conditions but once growing well its need for water is low. The other near this plant is the fern leaf yarrow which has grown large with this warm summer.

A wildflower native to North America.

Full blooms and buds.
Notice the ‘ fallen sunflower’ is still supported but with no seeds. I saw a squirrel running up it and birds as well as insects enjoying the crop. I have two seeds to try and grow. The dead shrub has done well as a support and by providing access to the flower head. I am pleased that this large plant I grew from seed has completed its life cycle.
This morning I noticed the chrysanthemums were slowly opening and the mexican orange was losing its petals in Ruth’s pottery jug so I added a few stalks of yarrow and three Gaillardia pulchella from these bright patches of the garden.

By being anxious plants can’t grow, children by being anxious can’t grow. What we provide helps growth but ultimately it is God who provides life and growth.
There is a mystery in life.
Jesus speaking: ‘ If a person puts/throws seeds in the ground and then has night and sleeps and day and gets up, many repeats of this, again and again, the seed grows up into a plant and we don’t know exactly how that life all starts but it does. The earth does this: blade, ear and corn in the ear.’
And we grow as effortlessly spiritually because:
‘ In the matchless gift of God’s Son, God has encircled the whole world with an atmosphere of grace as real as the air which circulates the globe. All who choose this life-giving atmosphere will live and grow up to the stature of men and women in Christ Jesus.’
EG White (Steps to Christ pg64 a little book my Dad sold many of when I was a child.)
Here is another thought about growth:
‘ The wise use of your freedom to make your own decisions is crucial to your spiritual growth, now and for eternity.’ Russell M Nelson.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
Those flowers are amazing. I better pay more attention as I now have a garden. It’s closer to winter now though so I wonder if it makes sense to plant a lot now? 😊
Bulbs now will give you a happy feeling in spring! So happy you have a garden!
