A Sabbath walk near Wargrave

Here is a long account it can be read in

1Kings 17,18,19.

Sandy’s brief words are like this:

Ahab the king is punished for worshipping the Baal god of rain and agriculture. How? The God of heaven tells Elijah the prophet to tell Ahab that there would be no rain. There was no rain. Elijah is then asked to do something that took great faith… he did. People returned their allegiance to God the creator of heaven and earth and it rained.

What is sky?

Whatever you would like it to be. So here is the sky until it is not. Then what? It is an archway of trees over a long path of finely earth-covered roots reaching out across from one side to the other.

A walk under the sky and the trees.

What is below? Earth.

Earth wet but once hard and dry.

It rained a little not much.  Nothing helpful. Just there.

The sky
The sky, trees and grass.
An archway of trees and roots below our feet
More sky!

A Sabbath afternoon with friends. More walking and talking with a smaller length of time fitted in to catch a true glimpse of the sky, archway of trees, other trees and the grass. Not cold, not hot just weather.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

Ps

Here are two quotes:

‘ Rain is grace, rain is the sky descending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life.’

John Updike

‘ Heavy hearts, like heavy clouds in the sky, are best relieved by letting of a little water.’

Christopher Morley
