A couple of weeks ago the wind pushed a sunflower to lean on the fence, its head held facing the fence. I left it. Yesterday, I took off the side flowers and noticed all the sweet soft seeds had been eaten. I will have to watch the fallen sunflower and the one that was framed by the cut-down tree if I want seeds for next year.
Here are the side flowers and a leaf with some thoughts about joy from the Bible.
‘ These things I have told you that my joy might remain in you

What are ‘ these things?’
Jesus speaking: ‘ As the Father has loved you so I have loved you. If you keep my commandments you will stay in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and stay in His love.’ 1 John 15:9,10
Autumn has shown me that what I thought were black thorn or hawthorn trees all covered in white spring blossom, next to the meadow pond are plum trees. Small round yellow fruits have covered the path. Part of looking at nature, for me, is getting things wrong.(Actually, a lot of my life is this way.)
And now CS Lewis about things going wrong:

Here is the fallen sunflower and the other sunflower that was framed by the tree that was cut down. It is still standing despite all the wind. These two I want to collect seed from.
