Established Sedum and Yarrow

First a thought from Proverbs 16:3

‘ Commit your work to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.’

Then this quote:

‘ God in heaven is true, and there is no design, however intricate, nor a motive, that He does not clearly understand. He reads the secrets of every heart.’ EG White.

This post shows two plants that are hardy and need to establish themselves with some interesting quotes with the word establish.

Why am I so pleased to see these plants doing well? They had a difficult time. The Sedum got too wet and rotted and lost its rounded shape and the yarrow had miniature daffodils growing up through its roots. They have both found their way. As one blogger said ‘ nature looks after itself’.

Here they are in the garden, and placed in a pottery jug from Steminitsa with poppy seed pods. These pods are from a large bunch of long-stemmed seed pods collected in 2020.

Sedum is in good shape.
A plant that can cope.
A long way from the little stem in a bucket protected from snails.

The first two quotes are from people who lived between the 17th and 18th centuries.

‘ It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong. ‘

Voltaire

‘Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness.’

George Washington

They grow this way, and that way, their fern-like leaves in a rosette showing where their centre is.
Five years ago there were yellow and peach, as well but not now,
Pink yarrow won the day.

‘ I am tomorrow, or some future day, what I establish today. I am today what I established yesterday or some previous day.’

James Joyce ( Irish poet novelist and literary critic. 1882 -1941)

A jug with yarrow in pink and white as well as yellow moonshine.
There are also three Sedum stalks picked from down near the ground.
The pods are from the poppies that self-seeded in 2020.

The last quote is like a blessing:

‘ God of all grace,

Who calls us through Jesus Christ to His glory which is eternal

After we have suffered for a while ( I don’t like this bit!)

Make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you!

To God be glory and dominion for ever and ever.

Amen

(Love from Peter x )
