This is Moses praying:
‘ Lord you have been the place where we live through all generations. Before the mountains were brought out, and even before You made the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting You are God.’ Verses 1,2
Now this is how Moses ends his prayer to God: verse 17.
‘And let the beauty of the LORD our God be on us: and establish the work of Your hands ( You made us); yes establish the work of our hands( that which we make)’
Sandy says the verses in between are significant, especially for her.
Can a memory be from yesterday and something you reflect on soon after.
Here is one of those. We cycled from A to B in a Tuesday town of shoppers and tourists and back again. Then from C to D and a return with gardeners working and corn growing. I like seeing the same things travelling in two directions.
We started by reading some instructions: ‘ride in a single file, keep a safe distance… look out for unexpected behaviour from children etc’
Then we met our fellow travellers. The land speed record competitors: helmets like birds’ beaks, elbows close, hands clasped like in prayer with wheels whirling like drones in sound. Usually alone but be alarmed if two together swish past. They make you wobble on your wheels. Then there are those sitting upright like at a table they just need the breakfast bowl head forward, focused, and we will get there before lunch, all 40 km done, running through their minds. What about the rest of us?
Two small babies in a tent like structure on wheels with a flag. Dad peddling and pulling it along then mum to the side but behind. A caravan of cycle safe keeping. Once one has looked into one of those one looks into the next. This time the big, round brown eyes of a golden retriever catch mine. Delighted in thought bubbles: ‘Poor you. You do have it hard. Look at my comfort. ‘
‘Yes, lady golden girl. I see you!’ I smile back.
Bess is in Bugzy, she is almost pleased to see us go. That double bed all to myself after breakfast and a good walk. Not a bad life. She used to go on the front of Roy’s bike but age changes size and shape and we don’t ride so far any more.
When we did A to B and back again. Annecy was full of tourists and shoppers, a buzz of sound and many colours. It was pleasant to be in the town with thought-safe cycle tracks. The trees fill the roads with shade and out of town, the lake has comfortable places to rest and view the blues of the lake. We returned for lunch.
Wednesday was building up for a storm we cycled from C to D and back. The path leaves the lake and there are vegetable gardens and fields with rows upon rows of two leaves showing. Such a new crop. This section once a railroad track is easy to ride.
The mountain tops are all grey, the lake is all blue the sky building up for rain but still very warm.
Cycling has been fine but it is good to get back to Bess.

Some thoughts about bicycles:
‘ Life is like a 10-speed bicycle: Most of us have gears we never use.’ Charles M.Schulz
‘ One of the most important days of my life was when I learned to ride a bicycle.’ Michael Palin
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
