Commandment 9 after 10, reading backwards.
God speaking: ‘ You must not tell lies.’
Nuits-Saint Georges is in Eastern France. We are going into the historic part of the town.
For a night in Nuit- Saint George
There is peace in an allocated space to park and a long, pleasant path edged by a wall and a canal.
The sign says to the historic part.
Let us notice the bouncing Bess growing by the edge of the trickle of water and the mansion beyond the vineyards seen through bars in the wall. The swallows are swooping for insects their forked tails and swept back wings in rapid movement.
Then we are in the town.
A truck, a dragon for these narrow winding roads passes through.
( We have seen many of these occurrences in other villages/ towns/ historic places).
Once gone we see the planting is new, two women with their baskets ready to shop and a man. A gentle elderly person sits relaxed in the shade, his bike nearby.
A fountain with a young child looking into the depth of the water too young to understand the statue looking down.
A street, a morning in Nuits -Saint George.
Their town.
A town where Maurice Boitel lived and painted 1919-2007.

and bouncing bess blooms.

Here are three thoughts about rest:
‘Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgement will be surer.’
Leonardo da Vinci
‘Take a rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.’
Ovid
And these plants?

( Unusual says Sandy. They have done this since we left Calais. Why?)
Take care and have a good weekend. I will post next week.
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
