One lupin, one lily pad, and new ferns wherever.

I’m writing something said by Paul . I write his conclusion first to show why he is so confident, and then I write what sort of situation he has been in, with faith in God.

Philippians 4: 19,12,13

Paul speaking: ‘ My God provides my needs because of the abundant resources and glory, which are found in Christ Jesus.’ Verse 19

Paul’s situations: ‘ Sometimes I am successful and sometimes unsuccessful, sometimes full and sometimes hungry. I have learned whatever is happening to be content.’ Verse 12

Then he says:’ I can be content because I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.’ Verse 13

Read this for yourself. I have made it my own.

One Lupin

It is good to see these buds, a loan reminder of large areas filled with this plant in Norway and Sweden. There the colours were white, pink, cerise, purple, lavendar and here it is purple. Unfortunately, afids often attack this plant. I wash them off with mild soapy suds.

The next ‘one’.

One minature, lily pad

I am thrilled with one. More will come. It is small and maroon floating in the reflection of Weigela florida from the Capeifoliaceae family.  This shrub is well established and reduced in size it can often become 5m tall.

In the top  right-hand corner, a lily pad.
…and the flowers of Weigela florida as they are today.

Two quotes from two different Alberts:

Everyone should be respected as individuals, but no one idolised.’ Albert Einstein

Nothing is more despicable than respect based on fear.’

Albert Camus

Ferns

Ferns, wild, and self positioned in their strategic places.

Ferns expanding, unrolling, revealing.

A scientific circinate vernation. (the spiral,  circular shape of the new leaf.)

Here and there , we see their sparse structure.

A repetition of shape.

Sun uncurled and reached up.

‘Come back believer in shade, believer in silence and elegance, believer in ferns, believer in patience, believer in rain.’

W.S Merwin

I brought a few in and watched them change. This was them on the first day. Their slow uncoil is nearly complete on the third day.

It is sunny!

Take care,

Sandy 🙂

  1. Your post is timely! We have a large drainage area in our small cul-de-sac, and three years ago (in an effort to keep the neighbors from putting chemicals on it) I asked if I could plant irises in the bottom. Just last week, I found one purple bloom–an iris! I am so excited! Thanks for writing, Sandy.
