Thyme and the two white roses.

Jesus speaking: ‘Whoever drinks of the water I give him will never be thirsty because it will be a well of water springing up into everlasting life.’ ( Sandy’s wording)

John 4 : 14

Yesterday I went out to the garden and saw only one white rose on the shrub. I soon spotted the other on the ground. Snapped off with no sign of a weak stem or anything else. A grey squirrel , quite possibly. They do pick and taste and throw down. This morning, I went out and picked the second rose, and with the broken one, put them together,  bedded in the thick small leaves of thyme. The smell is lovely.

The cup is chipped, showing its hard-paste porcelain and bone ash mix in a triangle ending in a fine long hair crack, which still allows water to not seep out. It was made in England before the Portmeirion Group took over Copeland , who took over Spode.

Spode in around 1770 produced the finest bone china body in the world. Who would have thought this Copeland Spode’s Italian England mark would be so significant. I thought it pretty when I picked it up in a second-hand shop with its chip and crack.

Here is an undamaged Portmeirion vase,  made in Stoke on Trent England. I decided it would brighten up some of the flowers and leaves used in 2024.

Flowers and leaves from the garden in 2024.
The red of gladiolus with the purple of cardoon and chives as well as the orange from the safflowers give joy even though they are dry.

Today, the garden is reasonably tidy for winter, and we will be travelling soon. There will be lots to do, so I  won’t be in this space for a while, so it is goodbye from the garden 2024.

We hope you join us as we travel.

Take care,

sandyroybessandbugsy 🙂❤️😘🤗
