From the garden:

They are smaller, and with the rain, their petals are well separated. These perennial Chrysanthemums in Mum’s oil jug with its stopper holding one of a few chamomile flowers are the white and pink of our garden flowers right now. Both Chrysanthemum and Chamomile come from the same plant family, Asteracea, which includes daisies and sunflowers.

I believe this is a Roman Chamomile ( Chamaemelum nobile) perennial, as it grows back year after year. German chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is an annual, so will grow back after flowering , having set seed which will grow the following year.
‘ Perennials are the ones that grow like weeds, biennial are the ones that die this year instead of next, and hardy annuals are the ones that never come up at all.’
Katherine Whitehorn
Or
‘ Annual plants are nature’s emergency medical service, seeded in sounds and scars to hold the land until the perennial cover is established.’
Weddell Berry
Religion
I usually have a verse at the start of my post, but this was rather long, so I have put it at the end.
Voltaire said this in 1776: ‘ One hundred years from my day, there will not be a Bible on earth except one that is looked upon by an antiquarian curiosity – seeker. ‘
Strange this, as there are 80,000 plus versions of the Bible, with full Bibles in 530 plus languages and portions of the Bible in about 2,900 languages.
Here is what I am fascinated by from the Bible. I will share it with you. Five names of God each different to show how He can be with us in different ways during tough times.
Elohim:the creator God
‘Haven’t you heard and don’t you know He is the everlasting God, the creator of Earth.’
‘ He gives power to the faint; to those who feel weak strength.’
Isaiah 40:29,28 Sandy’s wording. No matter how bad things are, God is in control.
El roi: the God who sees me.
An account in Genesis 16:13 where God talks to a sad Hagar leaving home with Abraham’s son. No longer wanted in the family.
El Shaddai: the Lord God Almighty
‘ O, Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer…
Psalm 84:8
He shall cover thee like a hen covers her chicks. (Sandy’s wording)
Psalms 91:4
Yahweh Rophe: the God who heals you.
‘ I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: behold I will heal you.’
2 Kings 20:5
Yahweh Yireh: The Lord will provide.
Another event where Abraham is provided with a ram instead of sacrificing his only son. This is a strange experience for a father, an event pointing forward to God the Father’s gift of Jesus. It is an interesting passage. Genesis 22 holds it and shows God as the one who provides.
God is in control. He sees. He is Almighty. He heals. He provides.

‘ God already knows what we are made of, but perhaps He wants us to learn what we’re made of. I think we would all agree that we learn more from our tough times than from our easy times.’
John Bytheway
Take care,
Sandy 🙂
Hey Sandy. The name Chrysanthemum is a word I learnt to spell as a child. Don’t think I’ve ever seen the plant or know what it’s used for. I know camomile which is a great herb for calming. Is Chrysanthemum used for the same thing? Bless you. 😊
Love this! All of it! So encouraging too. 🌸
Hi Anneta
I am not a herbalist, but here is a quote they use the word MAY.
” Chrysanthemum tea contains potent antioxidants and minerals that MAY improve the body’s ability to regulate its temperature and eliminate extra stress hormones in the blood and decrease inflammation. ”
I haven’t 😊 tried it but might buy some, where? Not sure. Won’t make my own.
Have a great day!!!
Hi Shelly
So special to know you are there.
Much love
Sandy xx
Oh, this is another beautiful respite for my soul today. Thanks again!
Thank you. 😊 Perhaps I need to read it a few more times myself. Sometimes/ some times male one day a pain. Take care and glad it was a respite. Thank you for saying so.
