Thistles

Here are some strong words spoken by God to Satan: ” I will devour you with a fire that comes out from you. It will bring you to ashes upon the earth , in the sight of all them that see you. All those that know you will be astonished, they will be in terror, and never shalt thou be any more.”

Ezekiel 28  : last part of 18 – 19

(  Ezekiel 28: 11-19 talks about the Origin and destiny of Satan. )

Garden thistles

Today is wet,yesterday was dry,
Yesterday I cut the thistles sharply.
I wanted them to be purple sky
They had changed to thistle down darkly
A softness of cream brown from purple portly
Here they are prickles from corky projections
Their skin tissue bristling with redirection.

Thistle down.

Some notes about this poem from the author:

Purple skies means different things: in this poem the author sees it as a storm is coming . We wanted rain for the garden and I wanted to put purple thistles in the vase.

The word prickles is interesting it is not a spine and not a thorn: spines are from leaf tissue, thorns are from stem tissue, prickles are simply corky projections from a plants skin.

Often when the weather changes to rain I feel like writing.

A jar of garden thistles.

Take care,

Sandy 🙂
